Willo Balfrey

Willo grew up in Durango, Colorado, a town surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, meadows, red rim rocks, trees, streams, and the beautiful colors of Fall. These impressions are with her today as an inspiration for her landscape paintings. Now living in Weed, California, the beauty still surrounds her. Working on location she brings the viewer into her work by painting the dramatic sense of early morning light, or the intense fall colors.

Willo is involved with the Northern California and Southern Oregon artists. Twice she has been awarded the "Artist of the Year" from the Siskiyou Artists Association and has her work on display at the Shasta Gallery in Mt. Shasta as well as here at the Art and Soul Gallery.

Artist Statement:
Growing up in Colorado and living in Northern California has made a deep impression in my soul for the beauty that surrounds us. Many times I come across a scene that is so breathtaking that I want to share those emotions with others and hope to do so with my art work. Sometimes the scenes are very dramatic as if catching nature in an unguarded moment, and sometimes they are quiet and serene as if taking a short nap. I hope to capture such moments and bring the viewer with me.
