Janie Hutchinson
Janie was raised in the Midwest, attended nursing school in St. Louis, MO, then moved west. She lived and worked in health care in Portland, OR for many years. Her work took her to the Middle East and eventually to New Mexico. Painting has always been an avocation, but became a passion after she retired. While in New Mexico, Janie co-founded and published an art magazine. The Pastel Journal was launched in March of 1999. An instant success, the publication is still going strong after being sold to F&W Publications. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the magazine. One of the benefits of publishing and managing an artists magazine is the opportunity to meet and work with many well-known artists. Janie feels fortunate to have taken workshops with artists Albert Handell, Elizabeth Mowry, Gil Dellinger, Bill Hosner, Frank Federico, Glenna Hartmann, Eric Michaels, Sheri Ramsey, Sally Strand and others. After the sale of the magazine Janie moved to southern Oregon, Hutchinson enjoys the freedom to paint whenever she wants either in her studio or outdoors in this beautiful landscape called Oregon. She still attends weekly art classes with Richard McKinley and travels to Europe for bi-annual painting excursions. Web site: janiehutchinson.com |
