Dixie

I first became enamored with art by dyeing silk. I loved to see how colors bloomed into beautiful patterns. In the nineties, I began another romance, this time with watercolor. Again, colors blended with beautiful results.

Since I love experimenting with color, shapes, composition and values, I just had to try abstract. With that I found acrylic worked well along with watercolor and collage. Most of my work is on paper in either collage, acrylic, and/or watercolor. Abstract paintings express my vision of art and reality. This allows me to create art that is truly unique.

As well as other locations, my work has been or is shown at: Art du Jour, Medford; Gallery One, Grants Pass; Art and Fair Trade, Grants Pass; Rogue Art Gallery, Medford; WSO Spring Show 2012, Portland; Bloomsberry Books, Ashland; Art Presence, Jacksonville; National Juried Emerald Exhibit, Springfield, OR (2012);Berryman Gallery, Collier Center, Medford. My teachers include Claire Oak, Dodie Hamilton, Janet Bocast, Anne Brooke, Virginia Cobb, Judy Morris, and Lynda Hoffman-Snodgrass.

I am a member of Watercolor Society of Oregon, the Abstractionists, Southern Oregon Society of Artists and Southern Oregon Art Association. I have also worked as a gallery director. At present, my work is primarily abstract and mixed media collage using watercolor and acrylic. For most of my career, I worked in education as an administrator and teacher; however I find art even more fulfilling
